Machon l'Smicha

Beit Midrash l'Rabbanut Kollel Beit Menachem

Machon l'Smicha, now in its third successful year of operation, continues to advance the prominence it quickly attained.

The program attracts young men from around the world who are seeking to advance their studies and attain smicha.  As well, the entire community benefits from their extraordinarily positive influence as the young men bring the life of Torah and a spirit of Chassidic warmth and vitality.

To be sure, the required curriculum is advanced; it also includes facets within which the students interact with the community on a routine basis.  Each student takes on the added responsibility of studying with a number of community members.  This assignment helps the congregants grow in their breadth of Judaic learning as well as to intensify their Service of davening. The young men develop a new range of teaching techniques.  The tools they acquire in this aspect of the program are an integral part the skills they will need as members of the rabbinic community.

The presence of the young men at Machon l'Smicha encourages many community members to immerse themselves in learning.  They join studies during the day as part of Kollel Tiferet Menachem.

As part of the community served by Chabad of Greater Fort Lauderdale, the young men develop, organize and participate in a broad range of community activities.  These activities directly benefit our community; as well, the students attain valuable experience community relations and development.

Machon l'Smicha understands its role in preparing for The Redemption.  As such, it is one of the many valuable assets provided by Chabad of Greater Fort Lauderdale to our community, Chabad Lubavitch International and Jews everywhere.

Rabbi Aron Lieberman, who became the Shaliach of The Rebbe to Fort Lauderdale in 1983, established Machon l'Smicha in 2002/5763.  n
